Exceptional voices, each with a unique story. A platform for those who live in marginalised communities to share their experiences — and empower others to speak up and speak out.
Roland Reviews is a show built around a simple but radical act: listening. Roland Chesters creates a space where the people the world most often talks over — those living in marginalised communities, those whose experiences are rarely reflected in mainstream media — get to speak for themselves. Clearly, fully and on their own terms.
Roland brings a unique perspective to every conversation. Having lived with HIV since 2006, he understands from the inside what it means to navigate a world that doesn't always see you fully — and that understanding makes him a rare kind of interviewer: one who asks the questions that actually matter, and who gives his guests the time and space to answer them honestly. The result is radio that is warm, candid and often genuinely moving.
The show explores what has shaped people, what they have learned, and how they use those lessons — not just to survive, but to grow, to advocate and to help others do the same. Roland Reviews doesn't just amplify voices. It empowers them.
Roland Reviews moves across the full breadth of human experience in marginalised communities — six areas that together form the beating heart of the show.
The heartbeat of the show. Roland creates a space where the people the world too often talks over get to speak — clearly, fully and without interruption. Every voice here has something the world needs to hear.
Living fully and authentically with chronic illness, HIV, long-term conditions and disability. Roland speaks from personal experience — he has lived with HIV since 2006 — and that lived understanding shapes every conversation.
Who are we when the world tries to define us? Stories of identity, community, finding where you belong and asserting your right to be fully, unapologetically yourself in a world that doesn't always make that easy.
What the hardest experiences teach us — about ourselves, about the people around us and about what we are capable of. Roland explores not just the struggle, but how it was navigated and what came out the other side.
Building a more inclusive, empathetic and supportive world — not as an abstract idea but as a daily, practical commitment. What does genuine empathy look like? How does it change communities? Roland asks, and his guests show us.
The courage it takes to share your story, to advocate, to say the thing that needs saying even when it's hard. Roland's guests inspire others to find their own voice — because the world changes when people stop staying quiet.
Roland Reviews is taking a short break and will be back on air soon. Keep an eye on the full station schedule for updates.
